While writing this blog, we are preparing for a hurricane to go right through Orlando in the next few days. So although I would love to skip to my next blog, it is only right to talk about the storms we go through in life.

Just last week, hurricane Helene devastated a lot of families in many states. My two Florida besties have family members that were directly impacted by that storm. Now we are preparing for it to possibly do the same to us.

When you prepare for an upcoming hurricane, it may seem scary and even bring anxiety with it. Being ready can help calm those fears. It can also bring fear with it.

What can you do if you are full of fear? The Bible tells us over and over to "fear not." How is that possible? God is a God of peace. He can bring peace where that is not your first natural response. He can make a way where there seems to be no way out of your situation.

I am still going through the appeal process with my long term disability carrier. I barely made it through September. I still owe my Mom a few hundred dollars for our monthly bills. I had an EEG test two week ago and an eight hour brain test happens tomorrow. Then we are going through a major hurricane the next day. It would be natural to allow fear to overwhelm me. Instead, I am going to focus on Jesus and not the storm that surrounds me. I am going to stand firm on my faith and believe that Jesus is for me and not against me. He has a plan for my life and I know that I am in the midst of it.

No matter how strong the storms of life are or will be in the future, keep your eyes on Jesus. Let Him hold you through the storm.

"Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace and all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you." 2 Thessalonians 3:16 NIV
